Process

At Hardie Associates, we can handle every aspect of your project, from the initial ideas through to handing over the keys to your completed building. Here is our guide to the process:

Step 1 - Initial Meeting

For all potential projects a free initial consultation is given. Here, we listen to all you hope to achieve from your project and we provide advice, ideas and guidance on how best to achieve those objectives.

Following this meeting, a full and detailed fixed fee quotation is presented to you.

Step 2 - Survey & Design

Once a brief is agreed with you and our services engaged, a survey of the existing land or buildings is carried out and drawings produced to reflect their current position.

Various design options for the project are explored via simple sketches and plans. Once a design concept is found that you are happy with, the design is completed to your satisfaction.

Step 3 - Planning Permision

Almost all projects require planning permision. Once you are happy with the design, we prepare all the necessary drawings and fill out the necessary forms on your behalf for the application for planning permision to the local authority.

Step 4 - Building Warrant

A building warrant is required to ensure your project complies with the latest building regulations. We prepare and submit the necessary drawings, specification and forms to the local authority on your behalf.

Step 5 - Tendering

If required, we can be involved in the tendering process to help you obtain the right contractor to build your project.

We can provide contractual and cost advice to ensure that your project is delivered in a manner and cost that suits your objectives.

Step 6 - Building

We can provide a supervision and certification service during the building process.
This ensures that your project is built to a suitable standard of workmanship and that all building standards are met.

Step 7 - Completion

If required, we can carry out a final inspection of the works with you to ensure that the work has been carried out as per the design, that the workmanship is acceptable and that the standards as set out by the building regulations have been met.

Final inspection is also carried out by the local authority and if satisfied, a final completion certificate is issued. Only then is the project complete and you are able to move in, rent out or hand over your project to a purchaser.
